This is not a Matlab tutorial. You must be familiar with the Matlab computing and scripting environment in order to make sense of what follows.

In the context of this tutorial, CORTEX refers to Bob Desimone's experiment control program, whereas @cortex, @key, and @spix are classes of Matlab objects whose aim is to analyze data files produced by CORTEX.
